Paul DeMarco: The Taxpayers’ Best Friend
Rep. DeMarco signs ATR’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge
Homewood (March 24, 2014) – Rep. Paul DeMarco continues his long record of supporting and protecting taxpayers by signing the Americans for Tax Reform’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
By signing the ATR pledge, Rep. DeMarco promises to oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or business. DeMarco also pledges to oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.
“My record shows I will fight any tax increase. As chairman of the Jefferson County legislative delegation, the media labeled me a ‘traitor’ for not supporting an ill-conceived occupational tax promoted by members of my own party. I didn’t back down and the fight to defeat that tax was successful,” DeMarco says.
DeMarco fought the powers at the Alabama Department of Revenue to successfully pass a Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights into law. DeMarco pledges to carry that fight for the taxpayers to Congress.
“Many people talk a good game about helping taxpayers, but I have a proven record as a fiscal conservative to show I will fight for taxpayers in Montgomery and Washington.
Rep. DeMarco is seeking the Republican nomination for Alabama’s Sixth Congressional District. The seat is being vacated by U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus, who will not seek re-election. The Primary is June 3rd.
